Room 1 have spent a lot of time learning about ANZAC and what it means. We have read books, completed art activities, asked and answered questions we had too. We all went to the school ANZAC Service on Friday and Dylan shared his retell of Simpson and his Donkey. He did a great job! Here are some photos and stories that we would like to share:

Simpson
and His Donkey
Jack Simpson moved to
Australia. He worked in the bush, on a
cattle station and in the gold mines.
One day he heard that the
Germans and the English were fighting.
Jack signed up for the war.
First, he went to Egypt and
trained for the war.
When he saw the army, Jack saw
the bullets coming at him. Jack went to
Anzac Cove. He saw the Turkish
army.
Jack Simpson saw a donkey. Jack called the donkey Duffy. Jack and Duffy rescued 300 soldiers in 24
days. But Jack got shot. The other soldiers buried Jack. The soldiers put a cross up and planted
poppies in the ground.

Simpson
and His Donkey
Jack Simpson lived in Australia
before the war. He worked in the bush,
worked on a cattle station and in the gold mines.
One day he heard that the
Germans were fighting the English. So he
signed up for the war. First he went to Egypt
where he got trained as a Red Cross worker.
The war was at Anzac Cove. They saw gun bullets, and Turkish army
soldiers. He was worried. Lots of soldiers died or were injured. They lived in trenches that had rats in them.
Jack found a donkey. He called him Duffy. Jack and Duffy helped many soldiers. Jack helped 300 soldiers in 24 days.
One day he decided to help more
soldiers. An enemy sniper shot Jack.
They buried him with poppies. They were
sad.

Simpson
and His Donkey
Jack Simpson went to Australia
before the war. In Australia Jack had
some jobs. They were in the bush, on a
cattle station, and in the gold mines.
One day Jack signed up for
war. Jack was very nervous as he was
sailing to Egypt for his training. Then
Jack went to Anzac Cove where the Turkish army was fighting the English and the
Germans were fighting the English.
A lot of soldiers died but Jack
Simpson saved many others because Jack found a donkey which he named
Duffy. Together Jack and Duffy saved 300
soldiers in 24 days.
One day while Jack was walking
with Duffy an enemy sniper shot Jack.
The soldiers carried Jack back and the soldiers buried Jack with a cross
with a few poppies. The soldiers were
very sad.
